Kids Visiting Venus

On the 6th of June 11am to 4pm NZ time, Venus is going to partially eclipse the sun. This won't happen for another century. In the Photon Factory we have been promoting the event with a website and blog that two school students have put together and we have done some cool videos on solar/space related experiments. We made a CD spectrometer, looked at sunspots, worked out the grating width on a CD using a laser pointer and how to safely view the transit of Venus.

So have a look on the site and don't miss the transit in 11days. More to come soon on the blog including some sulfuric acid and some water rockets so go and have a look.
